Heysham Classic Car & Bike Show

On the 1st August Heysham are holding a Classic Car and Bike Show and have sent us an invitation to attend. If you want to see more on this event and for an entry form, visit www.heyshamonline.co.uk. I have an entry form if anyone is interested.

Nostalgia Event, Croft Circuit

The Durham and Tyne Tees Area of the MVT are organising a new event that they have invited us to. It will be held on the 7th & 8th August. Steve Carr added the following "The event at Croft Racing Circuit near Darlington is fairly easy to get to, just 4 miles from Scotch Corner on the A1(M). There is plenty of camping available, good plumbed in toilet facilities etc, on this old RAF Bomber Airfield. There is also a Classic Car race meeting happening at the track the same weekend, so there's plenty to see and do.

Full details on the attached poster and entry forms.

Hope you will consider a trip over."

The form is here and the poster is here.

Lytham Spitfire Day

21 - 22 August in Lytham, Lancashire, there will be an event celebrating the erection of a full scale model Spitfire. Take a look at http://www.fyldespitfire.co.uk/ for the full story. The organisers are looking for historic military vehicles for the day to add the effect. Further details will be made available as they are released. Tim Hardy tells me "I have emailed the info address & received a prompt reply, the organisers seem very keen. They appear to be using the very large green on the promenade, which will give plenty of room for displays etc. (plus ice cream in close proximity)." A company called Griffin Historical (www.griffinhistorical.com) have apparently been appointed by the council to run the event. Contact Mark Griffin on 01686 624439 to get further details, or e-mail him at markATgriffinhistorical.com.

Camping for this event is being arranged at the Great Birchwood Country Park (Fort San Antone) on Lytham Rd Warton, near Blackpool. Phone 01772 633162. I'm not sure who is is arranging/co-ordinating with Great Birchwood so contact them directly stating that you are part of the Lytham Spitfire event, if you have a military vehicle or military display and they may offer a discount (Optimistic aren't I?) Note that this is not an MVT event so there may be a charge for camping.

No SS, Nazi or German political uniforms/symbolism are allowed though German Army, Air Force and Navy uniforms are welcome.

Hand and Dagger

The second visit to the Hand and Dagger has been arranged for 27th - 29th August. Based alongside the canal at Treales near Preston this is getting to be a popular location for our events. Full details can be seen on this poster here. An entry form is here and should be sent to Norman Callaghan, 12 Oxford Rd, Fulwood, PRESTON, PR2 3JJ.

Southport Airshow

The Cheshire and Merseyside MVT group are helping with this year's Southport Air Show to be held between 17th and 19th September. The following is a summary of the information I have been given. "The show itself is on the 18th and 19th but campers can arrive on the 17th. Booking in forms will be available shortly either by postal request or off the Cheshire MVT website WWW.CHESHIREMVT.ORG.UK. If you print the form off the website, note it is a 2 sided document and must be printed out as such or the organisers will not accept it.

Last year's show was a great success and had over 90,000 visitors over the weekend. The flying displays were first class as usual, but the organisers are not sure what's coming this year, but if it's anything like last year, it'll be fantastic.

Please put the dates in your diaries and book as early as possible as considerable interest has already been expressed in this year's show and places are limited.

Dave Sutton and Alex Jenkins"

Northern Military Expo and Show, Newark

See the poster here for a new show to keep you occupied during the dark cold days of December. It is held on the 5th December at the Newark County Show Ground, NG24 2NY, which in my mind puts it in the Midlands not the North but perhaps I'm being picky.
